To Install a Temporary Low Temp Cooling System

Turning a warehouse into a temporary coldstore for a major logistics operation.
Our client- a large national food distribution company- required additional chilled storage capacity to fulfil contractual obligations. Typically, in excess of 1 million pounds worth of stock would be stored in the 60,000 m3 warehouse.
A large ambient warehouse was available on the site, but with no cooling fitted, was not considered an option. However, after contacting ACR a plan was hatched to install a high capacity cooling system.
Critically, a rapid 5 day turnaround was required for this project.
Climate Rentals specified and fitted a 1.1Mw temporary chilled storage system.
Because of the perishable nature and high stock value, a reliable temporary chilled storage system would be required. In view of this, it was decided that 2 separate overlapping systems would be specified, offering good redundancy in the event of failure of either system.
ACR fitted 13x 50kw low temperature air handling units, mounted on a scaffolding platform. Each AHU is fitted with a defrost panel to control the electric heaters and valves required to keep the units free of ice build-up. 2x 600kw low temperature chillers were utilised with associated pumps, hose and fittings.
The project was a great success. The whole team worked really hard on what was a very tight schedule from concept to delivery. In all, the system provided faultless operation for three months. A great job.

A really nice temporary chilled storage project. This fruit storage warehouse was finished to a high specification and has been contracted initially for 2 years.
A great job this one. We were approached to offer a rapid solution for a chilled packing area. Large in size, and to be built within an existing warehouse, the area was to be used for chilled storage and packing of box meals.

Cold storage is especially tricky to maintain in readiness for the six or seven weeks of the year when you really need it. Renting equipment when you really need it makes business sense.
ACR were very proud to have been chosen to carry out this strategic project for Shetland Island Council. This project was a slow burner from the-off, with multiple visits to the Island, many options were discussed until the final solution was arrived at.
