Temporary fruit coldstore in Kent was required by a rapidly growing business. Major contractural obligations meant this client required a quick solution to increase their chilled storage capacity.
This temporary fruit coldstore in Kent project was a slow burner from the start.
Over an extended period, the client had been looking at a multitude of options to extend their cold storage capacity. Throughout, we worked closely with the client to look at the various options and moved quickly to build when a decision was made.
The final decision landed on, was to build a temporary structure on a car park area connected to the factory. Measuring 872m2, the additional space was to be used for the storage of soft fruits and required a holding temperature of 2 degrees. As with all raw food storage areas, a high quality safe finish was required.
For the structure, we recommended an aluminium framed building with an inflatable roof and 100mm PIR wall panels for increased efficiency. These buildings are held in stock and can be delivery and erected quickly.
Although not completely flat, the car park was deemed as suitable without the use our Heavy Deck levelling system, saving both time and costs.
We recommended a 320kw glycol cooling system. Featuring five ACR LT50 low temperature AHU’s and four chillers, the system was designed with redundancy in mind- meaning that no single failure would compromise the stores operation.
Throughout, a high quality finish was specified and supplied, including, a lovely resin floor which really set the final quality of this temporary fruit coldstore in Kent.
Overall, the client and the ACR team were really happy with the end product here. Not only was this temporary fruit coldstore in Kent delivered on time, it was also constructed to the very high finish required by the clients customers.
Indeed, the building is now in everyday use providing the critical storage space that the client required. Contracted for a 24 month hire period, options to extend are offered if required. A truly flexible service that has boosted this customers business.
