    A Temporary Fruit Coldstore Solution for a Major Fruit Packer

    The Challenge;

    Due to a rapidly growing business and major contractural obligations this client required a quick solution to increase their chilled storage capacity.

    Having exhausted all other built options, the client approached ACR to provide a 875sq mt building to be located on a car park.

    The additional space was to be used for the storage of soft fruits and required a holding temperature of 2 degree to be maintained at all times.

    As with all raw food storage areas, a high quality safe finish was required.

    The Solution;

    ACR recommended an aluminium framed building with an inflatable roof and 100mm PIR wall panels for increased efficiency. These buildings are held in stock and can be delivery and erected quickly.

    Although not completely flat, the car park was deemed as suitable without the use our Heavy Deck flooring, saving both time and costs. The tarmac was finished with a high quality resin floor.

    Cooling is provided by five ACR LT50 low temperature AHU’s and four chillers with a combined capacity of 320kw. As here, we generally endeavour to fit multiple separate cooling systems into our cold stores to provide redundancy ensuring that any failures don’t impact a stores use.

    The construction under way. The aluminium frame and roofing are in place. The PIR wall panels will be fitted next.

    Summary;

    The client and the ACR team were really happy with the end result here. This temporary fruit coldstore was delivered on time to a very high standard. The building is now in everyday use providing the critical storage space that the client required.

    The building is contracted for a 24 month hire period with options to extend if required.
